"Faculty and staff are truly looking forward to new leadership, and we're excited about the prospect of a more open, family-oriented environment," Faculty Senate Secretary-elect Amy Young told the Hattiesburg American editorial board. "New leadership will be met with great enthusiasm and a great openness to new ideas." ...
"I feel like the right attributes were put on the table, we got a solid pool of candidates and now it's time to close the deal," Henry said.
While it's understood the president makes final decisions, faculty are hoping for an administration that seeks and values input from across the university, Senate officers said.
"We are in the trenches; we have expertise to offer," Young said. "Our perspective should be valued."
