USM Presidential Search Near End Jackson, Miss. Reporter: Wendy Suares
The state college board announced Wednesday that a committee is narrowing a field of five candidates, as part of the search for a new president for the University of Southern Mississippi.
Officials say they hope to have a new president chosen by April 1.
"We've reviewed applicants the committee brought forth, an outstanding group of applicants and we're excited about those prospects," said Robin Robinson of the USM search committee. "And we look forward to going ahead with the search process."
The next president will replace Dr. Shelby Thames, who plans to return to being a professor at the school.
