The AAUP meeting that was scheduled for Feb 8 has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb 12, at 5 p.m. and will take place in OMH 227. Reasons for the rescheduling will be clarified at the meeting. We would like to invite everyone. Some potential agenda items may include finalization of the AAUP statement to the current USM administration reiterating our original position that no substantive changes should take place during the final months of this transition. Also, the recent events in the College of Education and Psychology will be discussed. Please email me or Joe Olmi if you have other items that you would like to see on the agenda.
I hope the faculty will take this opportunity to get involved in AAUP. With a new president coming in and the recognition that AAUP has enjoyed from Dr. Meredith, it is particularly important that there be a strong local chapter of AAUP to voice the professional concerns of the faculty in addition to the efforts of the Faculty Senate. It is time to stand up and be counted. As the recent events in the College of Education and Psychology attest, this siege is not over.
